Analyse how mis-en-scene events contributed towards the construction of stereotypes in a media product you have studied.

Stereo types

Gang culture - Negative representation - this conforms to the stereotype - What are they?

Location/setting - Bathroom - stereotype to where fights happen

Old vs young - binary opposition (Levi Strauss) - old are stereotypically weak incapable fragile - young are strong, quick, agile. This is challenging the stereotype because the old people are quick, strong and able to fight.

Girls cant fight - all male in the fight - stereotype women can't fight, aren't strong.

Asian good at fighting - asian guy loses fight - goes against stereo type.
